Saffron Family Kitchen. “ where everyone is family” Been looking for a place to eat while waiting for a late flight in East London. Googled restaurants near me and looked around for several places and decided to settle on this family kicthen restaurant partly Because of the tag line “ where’ve everyone is family”. Also loved the name “ Saffron” for it reminded us of Indian saffron, representing courage and sacrifice, which was was chosen for one of the three bands of the National Flag of India, along with white (peace and truth) and what is now called India green (faith and chivalry). As you enter you are warmly welcomed. Waiters super friendly and bouncy like they drink Monster or Red Bulls hourly. The manager is also people centric , after waiting to be served, he came and asked how long we’ve been waiting so he can apologize if we waited longer than 3 minutes to be served. He then personally went to look for a waiter to serve us and brought him to the table and introduce him. The space is definitely family friendly. When we got here they had kids playing and amazing great soulful music playing in the playground. Just soulful and Sunday soulful Enough. They also have Jojo tank for water conservation and back up. Hidden nice shrubby space but not far from Beacon Bay residential and shopping centre. Yet it feels nicely excluded , peaceful. Food menu is good enough not extensive for non red meat, non chicken and not pork and no shellfish eaters. But good enough for many. Food is 3/5 but the space is 4/5 Overall good space with extensive drinks menu with local and imported beers.
