COWamongus, which some customers now refer to as Red Raider Meats Restaurant, offers an American and fast food menu with limited dine-in options. The establishment is situated on Main Street in Lubbock and operates from Monday to Friday, 8:00-10:30 AM and 11:00-1:30 PM. Its reputation highlights a strong focus on burgers, with various reviews praising their unique offerings.
There have been mixed opinions regarding its current status, particularly about the venue's existence at its specified location. Some patrons have reported finding the site abandoned, while others have claimed positive catering experiences with COWamongus for events such as weddings. However, the last feedback received was a year ago, indicating a potential lack of recent customer engagement and updates from the business.
Overall, while some diners appreciate the quality of their meals, which allegedly surpass typical event dining standards, the absence of current information means potential visitors should approach with caution and verify details before visiting.

First, I got a burger (which is practically the whole menu now). I got Kliff's designed burger, "too turnt up." It was over-cooked, and there was so much grease that when they brought me the burger, the bun was so soggy it was un-eddible. The burger itself contained a lot of veggies, but not the quality of ingredient that used to define COWamongus. Like previous comments mention, Tech has some of the best beef you have ever had and COWamongus used to show this off. But now they took away all the high quality beef items and high quality ingredients in general.
I should also mention the chicken fingers. I watched them pull out store bought chicken fingers (processed and cheap) from the freezer and promptly re-fry them. I was in-between classes and starving, so I tried to eat them anyway, but they were completely un-edible. I had to spit them out, they had a funny color to them (as in the chicken was brown and green).
To conclude my rant, save your money and go somewhere else.
This is a small little restaurant connected to the Texas Tech Meat Science Dept. We are like national champion meat judges for going on 50 years I think. It is the one area at Tech no one can touch us. We know our meat!
Inside is some cooler meat cases and you can buy frozen meats to take home and smoke and bbq at your house or tailgate. Cool deal in my opinion. I hear they also serve great homemade ice cream but I am fat so I skipped past that.
Today I was told by Dos that I needed to get the burger designed or named by Kliff K. It is called Too Turnt Up. Grilled onions, jalapeno bacon, fried egg, cheddar cheese, tomato, pickles. It also came with a smattering of waffle fries and drink of your choice ....except they ran out of iced tea and didn't see fit to make any more.
The burger was huge and just a tad overcooked. It was very good. Bacon was great. Not a huge fan of fried eggs on a burger but the egg was fine. Bun was just ok, nothing special. The fries were ok, but I like crispy fries and they were not. If they were crispy I would have wanted more than the few they give you.
The place itself was mostly clean. It is unexciting. Best thing is the Meat Judging National Champ banners. Prices are fair. I also bought some meat to take home and cook.
I noticed in another review someone ragging on the manager dude. He has been there a long time I think because he was there years ago when I last visited. He is not the friendliest of fellows but he wasn't rude to me. He just doesn't have a real outgoing demeanor about him. If you have ever been inside a US Post Office to mail a package you know where I am going with this.
Final word: Go ahead and go to this place. It's a go and you are supporting Texas Tech. Wreck em
