Crave Kitchen & Bar pretty much stays crowded from open till close. So naturally, like a detective on Law & Order: SVU, I knew I had to investigate. So, what can I say about this place? Well...the decorum and sound here are more contemporary than a set from "Back to the Future II". That food though...eh.. This one is kinda complicated because I've actually been here twice. The reason I couldn't review it properly before was because our dinner was actually cut short due to my son being sick. The most significant things I can point out from that night were how inept the service was toward the end (possibly due to all the confusion), and the burger I got was like...a 5 out of 10 for me. Anyway, it wouldn't have been fair to rate them from that one experience. So I waited till I could revisit this place for breakfast. I had previously concluded that breakfast is more than likely this place's specialty. So I ordered something called "the hay stack" because I was impressed with the description. But if I had to choose a word to describe the seasoning of said dish, I'd say...subtle. Yeah. Subtle is the word. As far as the eggs over hashbrowns goes, it was actually not bad! Not great...but there was a hint of salt and pepper every now and then. This is a brilliant concept I plan to bring into my own kitchen and overall, this was easily the best part of the meal. Unfortunately, the bacon looked and tasted like beef jerky. I never made it past the second slice. The sausage looked less appealing than those frozen patties they sell at the supermarket. They should consider switching to links instead of patties. Not that it really matters, considering I find sausage deplorable. I just wanted to make a comment in the appearance of it. Presentation of a dish is important. Ultimately, this was sort of like bungee jumping. You visit a place just for the sheer experience of it, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll return. And that's basically how I feel about Crave Kitchen. I tried breakfast and I tried dinner. Obviously, the former was far more superior to the latter. Service and the decorum were spot on. And that's why...I am giving this trendy restaurant 3 beef jerky bacon imitators out of 5.
