Buck Owens' Crystal Palace Made it back to Bakersfield! The Crystal Palace is for sale, hopefully it will remain open, but there is a chance it will be closed for good soon. The idea for the Buck Owens Crystal Palace originated in the mid-1980s. Buck spent most of his early career performing in small, smoke-filled bars and honky-tonks around the country. He wanted a high-class place for country-western music to be performed. Buck also wanted a place where he could "be himself". There is a museum with numerous memorabilia throughout his career. Live music and great food. And of course the buck-mobile hanging behind the bar. Once made for Elvis, Buck used it in The Streets of Bakersfield video.
