Loved all the wine the staff recommended. Food wise some dishes are mix feeling, overall is still pretty good. My wife loved the pasta in the tasting menu, but I didn’t, I find it “interesting” but it was way too salty and sour for my taste. Both of us liked the amber jack fish, I loved the lamb although it was also a bit too salty for my taste, however my wife’s steak was over cooked and tasted rough & dry. Overall, nothing was really a surprise in taste wise, is more your typical fine dining place. Staff are friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is charming but they only have one washroom for the whole restaurant so is a bit inconvenient. I travel a lot for work and live in a culinary city so I'm always on the hunt for places that check my boxes: great, creatively prepared food at reasonable prices with nice ambiance, good service and good wine list! It's actually increasingly rare for me to be blown away, but my friends and I were really impressed by Cuculia. We all have different dietary needs, ranging from vegetarian to gluten free to 'carnivore', but all of us really loved the food. The chef provided three lovely amuses bouches, which was unexpected, and we were extremely happy with the local (not chianti!) wine suggested by the sommelier. The menu changes regularly but all I can say is that if you get the chance to have the black rice tempura encrusted mullet, go for it, it was cooked to perfection with extreme crispy outside and tender inside. I also really enjoyed purple potato gnocchi with mussels, and among other highlights at the table my friends loved the red rice tempeh and risotto, as well as a pork dish with roasted peaches. Our server was both friendly end efficient. We will definitely go back the next time in Firenze, and be sure to arrive more hungry so we can do the 5 course tasting menu!
