The Cyclist public house is located 70-72 New Chester Road, New Ferry, near to Merseyrail's Bebington Station and originally not a pub at all but once on this site, a 'bicycle shop' existed [hence the name]. When it opened in 2007 the pub was owned by J. D. Whetherspoon (then named The John Masefield). Whetherspoon's sold the pub in June 2023 and it re-opened in August 2023 as The Cyclist, new owners being The Mountain Pub Company. An "open plan" type of pub with cheaper than average food prices. The Cyclist can accommodate around 110 customers and has a good atmosphere with friendly staff. A good pub overall to enjoy a meal or simply to drink one or two pints in the afternoon or evening - a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits is available at the bar. Booked to perform there on 25th April. Booking was confirmed on 3rd January and then reconfirmed on 14th January following a change of operator. Current operator did not cancel show, only because I commented on a Facebook post that I was booked there that the operator decided to become rude and indignant, not realising I had been tagging the venue on Facebook posts advertising my show on my business page. Refusing to pay me for not cancelling and claiming it is my fault, despite confirming the booking twice. Entertainers, beware Service: 1
