This Hawaiian Cuisine lover is always looking for the next best thing in Hawaiian eats, even when traveling to other cities across the country. This time around, while visiting Portland Oregon, my wife and I discovered Da' Hui Hawaiian Bar & Grill nestled on Foster Road, it offers quite an array of known and some less known island cookery. Some of their offerings include supposedly Portland's Best Kalua Pork, the likes of Hawaiian Style Chicken, Lemon Chicken and many, many other dishes ready to entice you. A few of us stopped in for a bite and I must say, none of us were thoroughly impressed! One of my fave dishes – Loco Moco in all its simplicity, I thought lacking. I had their Loco Moco consisting of grilled and lightly seasoned (somewhat bland) beef burger patty served over rice, topped with 2 sunny side up eggs (which can’t be made wrong), with grilled/sauteed onions and totally smothered with a less than respectable brown gravy, then served with an okay macaroni salad! Although everything we tried was just okay, I found it nothing to write home about. Not bad, but not great either. It’s just a place to get your adequate Hawaiian on!
