Went to Damons tonight wasn't impressed chicken was dry chips were cold and a lot of the food was empty

Had a great time at Damon's lovely atmosphere and great staff. However when trying to cool my daughters chips I noticed they were covered in salt I spoke 2 waiter who advised all chips were 'salted' to 'keep them fresh?' My daughter is 14 months old can you explain why u would think it is acceptable to cover her food in salt??
