The DAO Restaurant is the place that, thanks to the great intuition of the owner Jianguo Shu, brought the Chinese cuisine known until then to Rome and perhaps to Italy into the new century. The intuition was to create a fusion cuisine that took inspiration from Italian recipes, completely reworking them in the Chinese way with the great contribution of important Chinese chefs. The result was a revelation that transformed the Chinese cuisine known until then into something innovative. In addition to enormously expanding the choice of stuffed pastas, dim sum or ravioli, whatever you want, which until then I had only been able to taste in Asia, dishes such as rice cannelloni stuffed with steamed prawns, or two-coloured Chinese trofie were presented. or sautéed pappardelle. All dishes that have a direct reference to Italian cuisine but are reinterpreted in a modern Chinese key. Ravioli are a journey in which you can pleasantly get lost, an enormous variety that deserves a taste of each of them and which in itself could already constitute the theme of a dinner where all types of ravioli are ordered and then shared among the diners , in the spirit of the typical conviviality of Chinese cuisine. As for the rest of the menu, every dish is worth trying but if we wanted to start with fireworks I would recommend the DAO rice and the two-tone Chinese trofie. Personally I have an unbridled passion for everything that contains prawns so I am attracted to these dishes. As a second course I could recommend the spicy pork belly and the steamed scallops. The desserts are also top notch as is the wine list. Let's say that, suggestions aside, the DAO is a restaurant where you need to return several times to fully appreciate its menu, and beyond personal tastes, you always perceive great attention in the choice of raw materials. From time to time there may be off-menu items that are absolutely worth trying precisely because they are unique or on particular occasions fixed-price menus for special events such as New Year's Eve, or Chinese New Year or Valentine's Day with dishes outside the menu. The environment is refined and very elegant with an absolutely kind staff guided by the friendliness of its owner. The prices are in line with the proposal and the quality of the place. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Ravioli Al Nero Di Seppia Ripieni, Ravioli Misti Carne, Ravioli Di Maiale Di Cinta Senese E Tartufo
