Daniel is a remarkable chef who pours passion, care, and generosity into every dish. His cuisine is rich in flavor, but also in "wanderlust": each course feels like a journey, a search for meaning as much as for taste. Me and my husband chosed Dar il-Rummiena for our last dinner before heading home, and it couldn’t have been a better farewell to Malta. Every detail was thoughtful, every bite memorable. And then came dessert. I was about to say “the icing on the cake,” but in this case it was the strawberry on the ice cream. The anise cookies paired with homemade ice cream were the perfect ending to an unforgettable evening. Thank you, Daniel, for reminding us that great food nourishes more than the body. Long after the last bite, what remains is the warmth of your hospitality, the stories woven into every plate, and the feeling of having shared something truly special. Can’t recommend enough! Daniel connects you to Maltese food culture whilst nourishing you with the most in season, organic produce (that he literally picks himself!) and sharing stories of both his past and Maltese food from a vegetarian lens. You sit within a classic Maltese house decorated with utensils and ceramics from his journeys across the Mediterranean, sip from custom made ceramic water cups and eat off beautiful ceramic plates. It’s a true, humble and delicious dining experience! It’s also beautiful to know every bit of bread, pasta, tomato paste, dip, liqueur and pickles are all made by Daniel himself! I could say so much more about this amazing dinner but I want to keep a few things a surprise! I definitely want to come back to Malta simply to see what he’s cooking next.
