De Verloren Hoek is a hidden gem tucked away in the corner of Bruges, near the iconic windmills. The restaurant is family-run and it shows - the staff are friendly and welcoming, and they go out of their way to make sure customers have an enjoyable experience. The menu features a variety of local dishes, such as skate (stingray) and Flemish stew, as well as some international favourites like vegan curry and steak. The ingredients are fresh and the dishes are cooked to perfection. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food, and the bar has a great selection of Belgian beers and wines. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner or a casual lunch, De Verloren Hoek is the perfect spot for a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Free tables in Bruges on a Saturday evening in December are as rare as hen's teeth, so resigning ourselves to a street corner hot dog, we made one more phone call with very low expectations of finding something. From the moment De Verloren Hoek answered the phone we felt on to a winner. We were told the restaurant was booked, but there may be a table at 8.30, however, we were welcome to come and sit at the bar for some Tapas. It was 6.30 and we decided that sounded like a plan, so we hopped in a cab and off we went (it's out of the centre of town). Upon arrival, we were seated at the bar and served a cocktail, at which point the owner came up and welcomed us, saying there had been a cancellation and he had saved the table for us. Result...he explained that the menu was in Flemish as most of his customers were local, so he translated everything for us, with recommendations. The attention on us as customers was second to none, and the menu was excellent. We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Service was above and beyond the call of duty and despite the place being full, we were made to feel special from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The food was superb, with a special mention for the Razor Clams and the Scallops. If you plan to visit Bruges anytime soon, and eating out is high on your agenda, book a table well in advance, you will be so glad you did. A wonderful evening was had, thank you guys.
