Once the promenade around the Roots Cultural Center is over, visit Debbie's. Enjoy perfectly cooked Italian salads, bacon and hot sandwiches this restaurant offers. The cool staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place great. Debbie's is notable for its spectacular service. As most guests notice, the atmosphere is enjoyable. We were visiting the RISD Museum from out of town, and on bikes, and asked Chat-GPT for a quick lunch spot nearby. It directed us here calling it "delicious," laid-back" and "locally-owned." We decided to give it a try and were so happy we did! My husband had the mortadella sandwich and I got the homemade perigees. Both were delicious! The guy working there was also nice. This was our only meal in Providence and we were so glad it delivered. Highly recommend! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Debbie's is not a "sandwich shop". If you're looking for ham and Swiss on rye, you've come to the wrong place. Debbie's is a labor of love by a talented chef who creates delicious and original flavors and textures and presents them in a limited, curated selection of sandwiches (and hot dogs). It is not the slightest bit fancy. Until you take a bite. I have had every sandwich on the menu (including the specials that come and go) and have honestly loved every one. Each is flavorful and surprising. My favorite? I love the warm Mortadella and the Chicken Cheesesteak is deeply satisfying.
