A previous review states that 'meh' is the operative word here and I have to agree. We came here for breakfast as friends were staying at the adjoining Clarion Soho whilst they were in town from Fringe fun. Unfortunately, it was all a little sad. Adelaide really knows how to do breakfast, and so if you're going to do it and you're going to present yourself as a refined or quality establishment, you want to be good. I ordered a bacon and egg burger with a side of baked beans. The burger was pretty tasteless, the eggs were poached for some reason, and the yolks hard (all the poached eggs on the table were cooked solid). I missed the crispy fried edges and slightly runny yolk dripping down my hand that I'd expect of eggs in a burger. The whites were water logged and simply tasteless. The bacon on the other hand was undercooked and didn't have any smokiness to it. They only redeeming element was the relish, which I'll admit was tasty. Sadly, the brioche bun was soggy with tinned baked beans sauce, and thus was quite difficult to eat. If I'd of know the beans were just a can of SPC I wouldn't have ordered them... I guess hipster cafes have spoilt me in that regard. Others ordered pancakes which were blackened, although reportedly thankfully didn't taste burnt. The Eggs Florentine and Benedict were served upon store bought English Muffins and again were dry, with overcooked eggs. Positives to end... the coffee was tasty, the staff friendly enough and it wasn't too noisy. But that is no where near enough to draw me back.

The Decant Restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Clarion Hotel Soho on Flinders Street. Situated right in the heart of the city, the establishment specialises in modern Australian cuisine with offerings for all meals of the day. Their sophisticated menu is complemented by a selection of fine Australian and French wine.

Hit and miss which is such a big shame! This was once lovely spot for a quiet dinner. I would not repeat the experience and return to Decant.
