We were given a menu in Turkish by the waitress. We asked in English, but instead of bringing us an English menu (which was available), she called another waiter. Because of the confusion, we were served a cheese plate instead of the cheese sandwich we wanted. When we spoke to the manager, he said he couldn’t do anything. Then the chef brought us the paper we were supposed to use to choose our sandwich and told us we should have picked from it. We explained that the waitress never gave us that paper in the first place. We also pointed out that when we asked for help in English, the waitress didn’t assist us properly and instead brought her colleague to translate only part of what we were saying. The chef then made us a *saç (sac)* dish, but it was very disappointing — dry, poorly prepared, and only had the same items from the cheese plate. We couldn’t eat it. Overall, the situation was handled poorly, even though the mistake was clearly from the staff.
