Devil's Reef, a tiki bar in Tacoma, offers an excellent selection of rum-based drinks and delicious food. The ambiance is dark and sultry, with nautical and Cthulhu/Lovecraft themed decor that transports guests to another world. The interior design is impressive, featuring Caribbean-style decorations and secluded booths for intimate gatherings. The price range is on the higher side, but the drinks are worth it. This establishment is located in downtown Tacoma, and it can be a little hard to find due to the intentional lack of signage. However, the unique atmosphere and extensive drink menu make it worth seeking out.
Some standout dishes include the Jerk Chicken Bowl, Caprasi Sandwich with Mozzarella, Tomatoes, and Basil, and the Big Bamboocha Dog. For cocktails, the Black Spire Relic and the Pile O' Bones are highly recommended. Soft drinks and wines are also available for those who prefer non-alcoholic options.
Devil's Reef is a great place for a fun night out with friends or a unique date spot. It might not be ideal for a first date due to the dim lighting and loud atmosphere, but it's perfect for those looking for a different kind of dining experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the extensive drink menu, which includes pages and pages of specialty drinks rated by skulls. Overall, Devil's Reef is a must-visit fine dining spot for anyone looking for a taste of the tropics in the heart of Tacoma.
Superb Tiki bar that surpassed our expectations! Popped in on 'May the Fourth' as we were in Tacoma for a staycation. WOW! We have been to many, many bars around the world & Tiki happens to be one of our favorite themes. We were very impressed by the extensive decor. Everywhere you looked there was something to notice & marvel at. You can tell a lot of time & effort went into curating this bars vibe. Well done! The service was prompt & friendly. It was a Saturday night but staff was ample & therefore waits were managed. The menu was a little overwhelming with all the options but kind waitress quickly recommended drinks after we disclosed our typical flavor profile. I personally loved they used 'skulls' to depict how strong each drink was. Such a genius way to visually show what you're in for! I am on the lighter side, whereas my partner prefers his drinks stiff. We both enjoyed the drinks we landed on & my partner was stoked they had Grog on the menu. Grog is hard to find as many people don't know what it is when you ask. Overall such a fun, memorable bar! Excited to try the food they offer next time... We will be finding excuses to return to Devil's Reef!! Price per person: $20–30 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
