Dirty Habit is by far my favorite restaurant in DC. The ambience is both chic and modern while also somehow feeling like it’s run by a family. I always tell people that Dirty Habit is an experience that engages all five senses. The atmosphere is modern and eclectic and lively without being loud or raucous or overwhelming. The smells alone of some of their drinks passing by and the burning candles add such a beautiful sensuality to the place. Anthony, the chef, is so thoughtful and thorough; he paints the most beautiful pictures with how he describes and presents the food, it is a perfect example of how sight and taste in tandem can vault an experience to ecstatic levels. Every bite of that duck dish with their (Oregon) Pinot Noir is literally the epitome of a piece of heaven, of self-care and luxury for me. Pauline is an expert sommelier. I can recognize the difference of being upsold for the sake of being upsold vs. a genuine direction towards a better experience and that’s what Pauline gifts to guests - she genuinely understands what you’re looking for and wants to help you get there. JR and Willie are such prevalent managing forces I feel so unbelievably welcome and special and they are committed to the magic that dining out can gift people of a moment of communing with someone or with yourself or with strangers and I know I’m gushing but I mean it when I say I don’t have the $$ to afford to go out all the time but when I do want to go somewhere special or take someone somewhere special I know that Dirty Habit guarantees that warm full-body feeling you get when you’ve been taken care of from start to finish. I want to call out all the servers by name but genuinely, anyone you sit with will take care of you, whether they’ve started yesterday or been there for years you can sense the experience and knowledge and earnestness/commitment to care. Love love love to the whole Dirty Habit team, you’ll see me again and again for as long as I live in DC.
