This was one of the most disrespectful customer service experiences I’ve ever had. My family and I are American tourists (if that was the reason for this rudeness, grow up), and we walked in friendly, polite, and excited to have a good experience. Unfortunately, that kindness was not returned. The younger employee, who appeared to be in her early 20s, was extremely rude from the moment I ordered a salmon sandwich. She looked at me with an obvious expression of disgust and responded, “The what?” in an unnecessarily rude and loud tone. When I apologized and said sorry for the confusion, she gave me another extremely rude look and mockingly responded, “For what?” The facial expressions and gestures alone were incredibly disrespectful and made me feel humiliated for simply trying to order. There was also an older woman who appeared to be her mother or sister, along with another female employee wearing glasses. All three repeatedly stared at us, made rude and disgusted facial expressions directly toward me, laughed together, and spoke in Italian while looking directly at us. It was extremely uncomfortable and made us feel like we were being openly mocked. We are American, but that should NEVER be an excuse to treat us or any customer with this level of disrespect. We walked in showing kindness and respect and expected the same basic courtesy in return. Instead, we were made to feel completely unwelcome and embarrassed. Like, I’m sorry for providing your business with service and money? Won’t be making that mistake again. Italy has many wonderful, welcoming cafés, but unfortunately this was not one of them. Based on this experience, I would absolutely NOT recommend this café. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
