Just went again last night. The food was much better. Salsa not too good but they did have peach sangria last night. The waitress I had trouble with last time waited on us, apologized for how she was last time. Unfortunately not many people there on a Saturday night and that's not good. May not be a good sign going forward. No lively atmosphere or festive.

Another Long Beach restaurant bites the dust.   Don Juan was a staple of ours.  Consistently acceptable American Mexican food served up by a franchised restaurant.  We've had better, but like most franchises, Don Juan was consistent.  The atmosphere was nice, if the blaring Mexican music a bit loud, but all was okay.  Nice people, okay food. That all changed tonight.   The food was the same pre-prepared freeze-wrapped fare that Hawhey unwraps, sets the microwave dial to the color on the wrapper and arranges like the picture shows.  We're fine with that, undercooked rice and all.  But after we were served, about 8 pm on a Saturday night, all hell broke loose.   Everyone working in the place disappeared into the back for about a half hour.  Guests waiting at the cashier to pay walked out, while those waiting to order also got up and left.  Luckily we were eating our McSwill and weren't affected by the food strike.   The waitress rematerialized,  but really didn't speak much English, so we couldn't find out what had happened.  Probably a little party in the kitchen as obviously nobody was in charge.  But what the heck; it looked like our tip was all she earned tonight; why not take a break.  The place was empty. Then the heat went off and the temperature started to drop, followed by the smell of gas.  Okay, we can take a hint; or at least we can save ourselves.  The few folks there followed us out.   This place is a train wreck, my friend.  Definitely a lack of interest here. Guess Long Beach will be losing one more restaurant.
