I visited the Doney Cafe at The Westin Excelsior in Rome today (September 3rd) around 8:35 AM to grab a coffee with my friend, but the man with a beard sitting at the cashier completely ruined our experience with his horrible attitude. Since my friend was in a hurry, she needed her coffee to go, while I wanted to sit at a table. He made a massive deal out of this, refusing to put both drinks on the same bill because of their rules regarding table service versus takeaway. Instead of explaining the policy politely, he was outright rude and completely inflexible. He snapped with endless flexibility and said that while he could charge me a service fee, he would rather decline my order entirely unless we both ordered takeaway. Being flatly refused and spoken to so condescendingly is unacceptable especially for a luxury venue like The Westin. The coffees is good and the people who make the coffee in the bar were nice but the first impression was horrible when ordering at the cashier. How disappointing. Management seriously needs to retrain this employee and educate him on basic hospitality, as his appalling attitude has ensured that I will never return to stay at this hotel again. I look forward to hearing from management regarding how this situation will be addressed. Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: €10–20

Great food and very kind servers at Cafe and Ristorante Doney! The breakfast buffet served was an incredible spread, we felt super spoiled, and I’d love to give a special extra shout out to Zeinab, one of our servers, who was very lovely and so sweet with our toddler every morning. Four stars, only because in the smaller area with the cafe (not the restaurant - the restaurant we would give five stars to based on the breakfast alone), we thought the food was a bit on the pricey side for what it was, but still tasty nonetheless, and still a reliable spot with good air conditioning if you want a casual sit down meal near Villa Borghese. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
