Hidden gem in Huam-dong, Yongsan-gu – Doyakdo (도약도) is a classic old-school seafood pocha that feels like it’s been around forever. Got the half-and-half winter yellowtail (buri) + flatfish (hirame) sashimi platter and the mentaiko mayo jumeokbap, and everything was ridiculously fresh. The buri was super fatty, literally melting in your mouth, while the hirame had that clean bite with perfect chewy edges. The mentaiko rice balls were straight-up addictive – warm, creamy, and the salty-spicy level was spot-on. Laid-back local vibe, the owner is genuinely nice, and pairing fresh hoe with soju after a quiet afternoon at Namsan Library was the ideal way to wrap up the day. Zero fancy or touristy vibes, just pure neighborhood pocha energy. Already know I’ll be back every time I crave proper winter sashimi in Seoul. Highly recommend!
