I had such a great experience at this restaurant! The staff was incredibly kind and respectful, and the service was excellent from start to finish. I am not writing this to maliciously ruin a business, but when I see pricing this utterly miserable and predatory, there is a massive, urgent room for correction. Someone needs to bring this place back down to reality, and it starts with this review. I genuinely do not know if the positive reviews for this place are completely fake, paid for, or if people just have absolutely no baseline for what actual, high-quality, tasty food is supposed to taste like. If anyone thinks this is a 5-star experience, they simply don’t have good taste. For a premium $32 price tag, you expect an exceptional culinary experience. Instead, what you get is a masterclass in cutting corners. They hand you a plate piled high with cheap filler—bread, a handful of chickpeas, and two sad, tiny chunks of potatoes sauteed in a basic curry sauce—all to disguise a pathetic, stingy grand total of nine small chunks of meat. Are you running a legitimate establishment or a magic trick? Trying to pass off a plate of basic carbs and two potatoes as a premium $32 kabob entree is an insult to paying customers. The flavor isn't even anything to write home about. It is aggressively average, completely middle-of-the-road, and entirely uninspired. You can get this exact same flavor profile anywhere else for a fraction of the cost, and you’ll actually leave full. High standards keep you away from cheap experiences, and paying a premium price means you should receive either premium quality or a premium portion. This place delivers absolutely neither. The Verdict: To the management: take this as a mandatory attention notice. Your pricing is unacceptable for what you are serving. To the consumers: don't believe the hype or the questionable reviews. I recently visited Dunya Kabob RVA with my family and we had a very good experience. We ordered the lamb shank and it was extremely delicious, well cooked, and full of authentic flavor. The hospitality was also excellent. The lady who served us was very kind, respectful, and welcoming, which made our visit even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, especially to Afghan people who are looking for authentic Afghan food and a warm atmosphere.
