My parents owned an East Side Mario's while I was growing up and it was an amazing experience with exceptional food. Unfortunately, gone are those days. We decided to bring a table of 10 people this weekend and everything was terrible. Chicken parmesan is now 2 small flavorless cutlets. Salad are no longer a fun sharing experience. You're now served with your own personal salad. They don't use Rene's dressing anymore and now a generic (cheap) brand. Cheese Cappelletti is dry and flavorless. Calamari Diablo was decent, but a fraction of the portion it use to be. They are now stingy with the bread thinking 2 of their new mini loafs were enough for 10 people! The severs were nice and our Server was amazing. This review isn't based on their service as they were excellent. Unfortunately, the ESM experience is no longer there. The decor isn't what it use to be and doesn't feel like an Italian experience anymore. Out of 10 people everyone had complaints about their food. Every single person at the table was shocked and stated they'll never come back again. It's just not worth the price anymore. They have taken the heart out of the ESM franchise and made it a generic boring restaurant. I predict the franchise going bankrupt in the next few years. Such a shame, East Sides was a Canadian treasure. So disappointed. Thankfully I have the entire menus original recipes on my USB hard drive and will continue making the dishes the correct way for family and friends from home!
