Forever grateful to the owner of this café for letting me and other street artists perform peaceful music unbothered by his door during such hard time for the world. Keeping Penang Armenian street a place for arts and expression, within heritage and culture, might be a privilege for everyone capable of offering space Last time playing music for tourists I was on Hormoz island in Iran last year, challenging a similar hot weather. Cosy bar. Unique atmosphere in such a historical building. Variety of international beer. The Swiss owner is kind and friendly. We just stopped for a quick drink before closing time. Price per person: RM 20–40 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

While wandering through the vibrant lanes of Armenian Street in George Town, my wife and I were soaking in the heritage charm, street art, and the cultural heartbeat of Penang. Amidst the exploration, we stumbled upon a quaint yellow-and-white building that seemed to whisper stories of the past—Edelweiss Café. Tucked beside the historic Cheah Kongsi, the café’s understated sign was easy to miss, but its colonial-era façade and potted greenery caught our attention. The interior felt like a gentle blend of worlds: a wooden bar to one side, round wooden tables and chairs reflecting local simplicity, the key feature was the 100 years old clock -an antique clock, old photographs, and vintage furnishings.It felt like stepping into a piece of living history. What impressed us most was the sense of authenticity. The ambience was settling and relaxing. It was a serendipitous find that turned our casual stroll into an experience—a quiet moment of connection, good food, and cultural richness. Edelweiss Café isn’t just a restaurant.
