Left feeling very “meh” Definitely a tourist oriented place - we didn’t hate it, but won’t return. The shrimp ceviche wasn’t bad flavor-wise, but had like 5 whole shrimp that looked and tasted like Walmart quality shrimp. It was pre-cooked shrimp and not traditional ceviche. The seafood rice was filling, and the portion was huge, but again the seafood felt low quality for the price. The fried seafood left a lot to be desired. The shrimp in it was supposed to be coconut shrimp but just looked and tasted like overcooked batter. Again, huge portion. We spent $100 (US dollars) on our meal (with 2 alcoholic drinks not pictured) - you can absolutely get a better, less expensive, meal elsewhere in the area. Fantastic! Even if you dont like the history behind the plane or you're not one to like stunning views or good service, the food in of itself is a perfect reason to come here. A co-worker who is from Costa Rica told me about this place and said that I had to check it out, so we did. For apps we had the shrimp ceviche and fried calamari....both delicious. I had the seafood curry with and tostones...filled willed seafood and again, delicious. The table also had the poke bowl and the creamy garlic shrimp pasta and surprisingly (not really) it was all good. We also had the chiliguaro shot, we liked it...somewhat reminded us of a bloody mary. Read a little bit of the planes history (not long) before you go and it will just add to the overall experience. Definitely recommend. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₡20,000–25,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Loved El Avion! My husband and I went for dinner twice on our trip, the first night I got a burger and fries and it was cooked perfectly. The second night I had the fish sticks and fries with tartar sauce and frozen lemonade and it was great. The servers both night were so attentive and great. You will see sooooo many animals during dinner too and the most beautiful sunsets and that is just the icing on top:) Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
