I recently stumbled upon El Cochiloco on my way home from a doctor's appointment and decided to stop in to see what Latin dishes they had to offer. I was pleasantly surprised. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted and asked whether my order was for dine-in or takeout. When I mentioned it was to go, they offered me a frozen cup for water while I waited for my meal to be prepared. It was a small gesture, but it made me feel genuinely welcome. Although I was born in the United States, my family heritage is Peruvian, so I was excited to see Lomo Saltado on the menu. To my surprise, the person who greeted me was also from Peru and assured me they would make me a delicious plate to go—and they absolutely delivered. The Lomo Saltado was flavorful, well-prepared, and reminded me of the authentic flavors I grew up enjoying. What makes this restaurant unique is its blend of Latin American cuisines, offering Mexican, Venezuelan, Colombian, and Peruvian-inspired dishes all in one place. The restaurant itself may be small, but it's packed with big flavors and warm hospitality.
