El Doblon, nestled on Honorato Vásquez, is a dining destination that offers a cozy and casual atmosphere with an array of service options including both takeaway and dine-in. Known for its great coffee and desserts, it serves as a perfect spot for lunch, dinner, or just a quick bite. Guests can enjoy a menu filled with small plates, promoting both solo dining experiences and group gatherings. A quiet and trendy space, the restaurant is equipped with table service and amenities like a toilet, and it welcomes tourists and local patrons alike.
The restaurant also features live Latin American music in its upstairs venue, Cafe La Joyapa, although current information regarding these events is lacking. Reviewers from several years ago spoke fondly of evenings enriched by acoustic guitar performances, enjoyed alongside diverse culinary offerings. Despite the praise received in past reviews, there is a notable absence of more recent feedback, meaning visitors today may experience something different than earlier patrons. El Doblon accepts reservations and offers flexible payment options, but whether live music remains part of its offering is unknown. Check their operation hours from Monday through Saturday to ensure a timely visit.

We visited El Doblon to see live Latin music which is offered Tuesday - Saturday starting at 7:30pm in Cafe La Joyapa, on the second floor of the restaurant. Wow! Did we ever enjoy it. Luis Ullauri played his acoustic guitar and he and his guest vocalist sang South American songs until about 10pm. It was a lovely, intimate space – perfect for an evening of dinner and live music where you were truly up close and personal with the musicians. The food was also excellent. The menu had lots of variety, the prices were very good, and the meals we ordered were delicious. Our server was very attentive, and he spoke excellent English. All in all, it was one of the nicest evenings we have had during our visit here to Cuenca, and we will definitely visit again. I only wish we had discovered it sooner. I highly recommend it!

Great food. Friendly service in both Spanish and English. I very much enjoyed the live Latin music performance. Luis Ullauri was great, and so was the special guest singer who joined him.
