The people complaining about the price would need to complain about pricing in Montevideo in general, so it's not really a point to make about an individual place. They were in line with other restaurants that are going the extra mile, but their atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. The service was amazing to the point where my server patiently helped me in English when my Spanish was failing. I took a chance with their white bean and beet hummus, because it's rare that I like beets, and it really paid off with delicious sun dried tomatoes and toasted garbanzo beans. I unfortunately can't eat gluten, and their gluten free bread was among the best I've ever had. It came out warm, had a great crust without being hard, and the middle was perfectly moist. If wasn't so full I would have ordered seconds of just the bread to dip in olive oil. The band played original music and half the place was filled with their supporting friends and family - it was a very warm atmosphere sitting directly next to the keyboard player's mom. I'm definitely going back during my month visiting to try some other food menu items and wine on a night that I can drink. Price per person: $800–1,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Honestly great food but the portion was so tiny that I'd never eat here again, it felt like a ripoff. Food cost in Uruguay is quite low, so if I spend $15 USD and only get 4 bites and am still hungry when I leave that's a problem. I also had to pay extra for bread, which was necessary to have any sensation of actually having food in my stomach. If they increased the portion size by 4x then I would highly recommend it, but as it is now it's just not worth what you pay unfortunately. That being said I had no problems with the staff or being seated quickly, as I was the only customer at around 7pm. Might be good for atmosphere and music if you want drinks, but if you come hungry you will leave hungry, even if you order food. Price per person: $400–600 Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

¡¡Wow!! Really excellent food, great service, live music! Where have you been all my life?!? El Mingus was absolutely wonderful: veggie croquettes, vino tinto, bifes, musica en vivo. On our second day in Montevideo, maybe I never want to leave! I felt the evening was like a dream, such a calm and tranquil environment, absolutely lovely! Thank you for a truly beautiful evening!!
