El Rincon de Rafa is a fine dining spot that offers authentic Spanish cuisine in the heart of Manchester. Tucked away in a back alley off Quay Street or Deansgate, this establishment may be difficult to find, but it is definitely worth the search. The basement restaurant has a pleasant ambiance and rustic interior design that makes you feel like you're in Spain. The prices are very reasonable, making it an excellent choice for those on a budget.

The staff at this place are friendly and welcoming, making diners feel right at home. The menu boasts a wide variety of tapas dishes, including the meat paella, which is a must-try. Other popular dishes include the Pulpo Gallega (Galician-style octopus), Gambas Pil Pil (prawns in olive oil and garlic), and Chorizo Al Vino (chorizo in red wine). For those looking for something sweet, the Tarta De Santiago (almond cake) is a perfect dessert.

El Rincon de Rafa also has an impressive selection of drinks, including Spanish wines, Estrella beer, and cocktails such as the classic Sangria. Soft drinks are also available for those who prefer non-alcoholic options.

Overall, El Rincon de Rafa is a hidden gem that offers delicious Spanish cuisine, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. It's an ideal place for a romantic dinner, a night out with friends, or a family gathering. Don't miss out on this fantastic establishment located in the heart of Manchester.

A very old world Spanish restaurant that was delightful to visit. In the basement of the building down a series of steps with a good bannister, it is not an accessible venue but if you can do stairs they transport you to Spain. The food is plentiful and excellent. The decor is typically Iberian with sporting memorabilia featured on the walls. The service exceptional. It is around the corner from Deansgate and handy for the theatre. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30 Recommendation for vegetarians: Somewhat recommend Vegetarian offerings: Clearly labelled vegetarian dishes Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Paid parking lot, Paid street parking Parking: Parking is close to but not outside the testy. Kid-friendliness: Don’t know but guessing ok Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible as there are stairs down to the restaurant

We had such a lovely experience at El Rincon de Rafa - we had never been before and had our expectations surpassed. The croquetas were so flavoursome, Oxtail and Iberian Ribs were so tender and fell away from the bone and both in a lovely sauce of their own. Patatas bravas tasted so authentic. It’s a lovely little resting and the staff so friendly and welcoming. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £30–40
