A city staple, Bar Roure offers up local fare in a traditional Spanish setting. I've been here multiple times for both their menĂș del dĂa for lunch and their assorted tapas for dinner, and the only time I was ever disappointed was when I ordered their "pan con tomate," or the Catalan creation of smashed tomato (and sometimes garlic) and olive oil on toasted bread. Theirs was tasteless. That aside, everything else has always been delicious. Their menus are ever-changing and ample, and their tapas are tasty and extensive. A couple of my favorites are their patatas bravas and fried artichokes. Furthermore, the service is fast and matter-of-fact- but not cold- and the whole experience whisks you back to a past that is more and more difficult to find.
