Never got the chance to order. Was just standing at the register. A lady and her baby came behind me and was waiting a minute until she walked out. I still waited another minute and a girl who worked there was walking towards the front….looked up and saw me, rolled her eyes and turned back around. Did my brown skin offend? Mind you, the guest sitting down saw everything too! I kindly walked right back out those doors! I wish I would spend my money where apparently I’m not welcomed! Also ….they know everytime someone walks in by the bells when u walk in and out the door! Disgusting attitude! This was around 1:50pm btw 9/5/2026. I’m getting my car serviced doors down and thought to grab something to eat while waiting! Glad I left! She might’ve did something to my food.

We had a great experience here! The food was absolutely delicious and everything came out fresh and full of flavor. We tried the Cali-Fries, Taco Dinner, Militas, Alambre, and a Piña Colada, and everything was amazing. The portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and you can tell they put a lot of care into the food. The Cali-Fries and Alambre were definitely standouts, and the Piña Colada was the perfect drink to go with the meal. Great food, great atmosphere, and an overall enjoyable experience. We’ll definitely be coming back and trying more from the menu. Highly recommend! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Order type: Dine in Price per person: $10–20

I’ve driven past Tacos el Rey many times and finally stopped in. I don't understand why this place only has a 3.8-star average. The food is fantastic, the salsas have great flavor and heat, and the taco perrón was particularly delicious (something I've never seen anywhere else in Chicago). Don't just drive by like I did forever; stop in. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
