El Rodeo Grill, as a BBQ or Asado venue looks far more authentic than some of the other glass fronted more modern venues along the street. That’s why I chose El Rodeo and as I pushed through the ‘cowboy western style’ swing doors, it almost felt like going back to those days. I was greeted warmly but the waitperson quickly exited to the kitchen and just as quickly I was speaking with Jenny, the owner or ‘Administradora’ (a much better title). Jenny has a warm effervescence about her and made me feel very welcome in her restaurant. I ordered a small tomahawk steak (HUGE for $12) and a small jug of Sangria ($7). The sangria was tangy with fresh fruit and a relieving change from my usual beer selections. When ordering my steak, Jenny offered a great ‘cooking’ chart and I selected Rare to Medium Rare. Usually I’m happy with MR but I’ve had too many overcooked steaks in my travels so far. I shouldn’t have doubted the El Rodeo chefs cooking ability because my steak arrived very rare, so rare that I had to ask for it to be put back on the grill. Jenny was very apologetic.not her fault and not the chefs.mine completely. The steak came with crispy fries and a simple salad along with a chimichuri sauce or picante sauce. Jenny’s El Rodeo Grill is well worth visiting for good welcoming hospitality and perfectly cooked meats - just trust the chef rather than second guess how the cooking degree might end up!!!!
