Enjoy Fundacio Gaspar and visit this bar. El Xampanyet offers you great dishes of Spanish cuisine. Nothing can be better than trying nicely cooked spanish tapas, anchovy and grilled squid. It's a pleasant experience to taste good biscotti, parfait and chocolate truffles. Delicious house wine, draft beer or white wine are waiting for you at this place. A selection of great coffee is offered to visitors.

The warm atmosphere of this spot makes guests feel relaxed and have a good time. The appealing staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place great. The prompt service is something these restaurateurs care about. You are to be pleasantly impressed with reasonable prices at this bar. From the guests' point of view, the decor looks homey here. According to the Frommer's rating system, the rating of El Xampanyet is 1 star, so it's worth visiting.

We got super lucky getting here at 7:10 PM and were seated at a small table outdoors nearly immediately. We actually walked past the restaurant because I had my eyes peeled for a pile of people waiting outside, and there wasn't a line yet at this time. However, at 7:30 PM, there were about 20 people waiting outside, and the line kept growing. Servers were friendly and spoke English, Spanish, and Catalan well. They were very encouraging when you order, but also do take no for an answer. Onto the food! Ranked in order from favorite to least, according to my unrefined American taste anyway: - Pluma Ibérico (grilled pork with padrón peppers): If you get one thing, get this! The pork was super tender and nearly melted in my mouth. There is also a beef version of this dish. - Jamón Ibérico (Iberian ham): Exactly what you're looking for. There is no longer a small version of this dish, but I downed it quickly. - Pan con tomate (bread with tomato): Generous helpings of olive oil and tomatoes that drenched the bread. Tasty! - Macarrons (Catalan pasta): Pretty yummy pasta. A safer option. - Tortilla con chorizo (Spanish omelette with chorizo): I actually didn't like this one as much as other tortillas I've had in Spain because I felt the chorizo distracted from the flavor, but my husband thought it was really delicious! - Sea snails: Got this due to other Yelp reviews, not because we love snails. Probably should've listened to ourselves. Prices add up quickly. For two without much alcohol, it added up to 63€. This ended up being one of our most expensive meals in Europe, even more than ours in Paris.

El Xampanyet is amazing!!!! We went to Tapeo across the street first, before realizing this is the superior restaurant in all aspects. Iberian pork w/ Padron peppers: FAVORITE DISH! The pork is sizzling and mouthwatering, super super tender, and bursting with flavor. The peppers are an amazing complement, too. Get this. Get this. Tuna belly with marinated leeks: This one was good, but optional. I normally really like tuna belly in a sushi setting, but in this case you can't really tell it's from the belly. It's good, but not a must order. Grilled squid: This squid is freakin' delicious. It might be the best squid I've had in Barcelona. So flavorful and tender. Oh man. Champagne: Of course, this is their namesake. I'm no champagne expert, but it tasted really smooth and went down so easily. If you're ordering more than 2 cups per person, get a whole bottle. The line can get really long, so try to come during off-hours.
