Great tortilla and cava. Nicest staff
Expensive for what it offers. Small portions. Regarding all the reviews, I was not impressed.
From my research, El Xampanyet emerged as a must stop for tapas in Barcelona. After leaving the Picasso Museum we came here for lunch since it's very close by. The place was bustling when we got there a little before 1 on a Saturday. Seating is limited and the space is tight but the staff was warm and friendly. We were able to get a table after about a 5-10 minute wait. I had the tortilla with chorizo which was delicious, bread with tomato and olive oil, and some tapa with potato (can't remember the name, see picture) and it was also delicious. I also tried the cured payoyo (goat cheese) with paprika (drier than what you think of when you hear goat cheese but good nonetheless) and sweet peppers which I didn't try but was told by others it was very good. It's not the place to come if you're in a big group or shy about being close to other people. Food came out relatively quickly considering how packed they were and prices were reasonable. I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
