What a find only five minutes from our hotel on the riverwalk! We went on Sunday morning about 9 and the wait in line was about 10-15 minutes. The food was fabulous—had the avocado toast and the oeufs en pepperaud, followed by our dessert breakfast of an almond croissant. Their signature breakfast cocktails were wonderful as well. Shady, street-side dining with our dog made it that much more enjoyable. The only negative was a rude homeless man on one side of the building who made three of their outside tables unusable. Lovely! At Ellie's, a person just really feels like they've either gone back to the times when stores/restaurants tried to do right by their patrons by curating a sweet experience OR they've been catapulted into the future of a world where the default ethos is that patrons deserve nice things and calmed nervous systems for spending their hard-earned money at these places. The food tastes like someone has really paid attention to detail for your benefit. I had the quiche one day; the lentil bowl the next; and on both days I had the citrus olive oil cake--soooo good! My cortado was yummy too--so much so that I asked about the espresso beans and have since purchased a bag online. The atmosphere is lively but not loud. And the attention to detail extends even into the restrooms where there is a hook for your bag (pictured) and some fresh flowers near the sink (pictured). I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a restroom and wondered out loud: "So where am I supposed to put my tote bag?" Ellie's gets it! Thank you.
