I ordered hairy crab, 100grams uni and asparagus. Everything was perfect. (Just asparagus was a liiiiiiiittle bit too salty. Good service. I would go back there again when I visit Otaru. Price per person: ¥10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A Hidden Gem in Otaru! Incredible Seafood and a Superwoman Chef If you are on your way to the Otaru Steam Clock, keep an eye out for a small alley—just 10 meters in, you’ll find Engawa (えんがわ). It is a true hidden gem! The most impressive part of this restaurant is the owner. She is a talented young woman (under 30) who runs the entire place by herself. She is a true "One Woman Show," seamlessly handling everything from greeting and cooking to being the cashier with incredible speed and a warm smile. The Food: • Grilled Taraba Crab Legs: These are a must-order! They have a wonderful, deep aroma from the charcoal grill and the meat is exceptionally fresh and naturally sweet. • Crab Fried Rice: Perfectly seasoned and savory. It pairs beautifully with their fresh Clam Soup . • Early Opening: They open at 8:00 AM, making it the perfect spot for a high-quality seafood breakfast. Before I left, she even gave me a souvenir to take home. Her kindness and hard work made this one of the most memorable meals of my trip. Don't miss this place when you're in Otaru!
