Not sure why the service, hot chocolate and cake were disappointing this morning, but here we are. The young person serving seriously didn't want to be there, literally slung my cake down, I didn't pick it up because I was counting to 10. I ordered a large hot chocolate and tbh I could've made it better using store bought chocolate, which im guessing was used. It was flat and watered down. And the carrot cake, I was given the smallest piece considering its $9 a piece. So $16.30 wasted because i wanted to support a local Cafe. Never again and do better especially when there's heaps of families going to there before the museum opens. Price per person: A$1–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

The food was acceptable. I wouldn't buy a coffee at this place. We ordered extra hot and it came out tepid. The grand kids' jelly cups were just as hot Price per person: A$40–60 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

Had an amazing coffee and cake at Epoch Cafe this morning, just prior to seeing the Terracotta Warriors exhibit it at the Museum! Have been to this cafe many times and it never disappoints. I love the coffee here - so much so that I’ve been here just for a cuppa, even if not visiting the museum. Apart from the coffee I love the spaciousness of this venuetables and chairs are not right up against neighbouring tables, like a lot of other cafes. There’s also a choice of indoor and outdoor spots to sit. And I love the ceiling with Chinese lanterns which add a nice pop of colour. Okay, I’ll admit, even if I am visiting the Art Gallery I will visit Epoch for a coffee, not the Art Gallery. There is a much nicer vibe at Epoch!
