Nowadays it is so hard to find a truly authentic, quiet and really so tasteful restaurant in Rome’s historical center. Evangelista is just that and all that. Everything we had was so delicious, beautifully prepared and served. Unfussy, just classy old school Italian historical establishment. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

What can I say about this place except that it is just plain tired. The decor, the people, and the food are all bland and uninterested/uninteresting. I'm not sure how this place has so many good reviews, but we found it just dismal. I ordered the fish and was delivered something closer to fish flavored rubber than any sort of fish I have ever had. A few minutes later, a lemon butter sauce appeared as if to apologize for the fish. About five minutes later some thinly sliced potatoes showed up also seemingly as an excuse or apology for the fish. Our other dinner guests had similar experiences. Everything was bland and to top it all off, we were served wine that was probably opened a week ago and was not even drinkable. The artichokes are called out on the menu as a star item and they are just passable. Sorry to say that this was our worst meal experience on the entire trip. To the owners, if your are reading this, you really need to up your game. Do not serve old wine, rubber fish, and try to at least give your guests a smile once in a while.
