After a walk around Maryland Science Center, many visitors stop by this bar. Trying nicely cooked crab cakes, fried chicken wings and hamburgers is a nice experience here. You can always enjoy good French toasts and tasty pancakes at Explorers Restaurant & Lounge. A lot of visitors order delicious wine. Based on the visitors' opinions, coffee is good.

The warm atmosphere of this place makes guests feel relaxed and have a good time. The high ratings of this spot would be impossible without the attentive staff. Professional service is something clients like here. You are to be pleasantly impressed with fair prices at this bar. Lovely decor helps the clients relax. But Explorers Restaurant & Lounge hasn't gained a high rating from Google users.

My friend and I came here for the Baltimore Restaurant Week Pre-Fixed Menu Summer 2026. The food was good value for the money with the stand outs being the mini crab cake appetizer and salmon seafood pasta dish. However, the dessert options were not great with a deceiving "cheesecake" and a smith island cake that was too dense. What really killed the stars, was the pretty terrible service. We waited quite a long time for our first course to come out, of which they only brought one. We had to flag down the manager to ask for more water. We waited a long time to get a to-go box and got so impatient waiting for the check that I tried to pay for out meal at the bar. The manager seemed confused by my request and took other people's orders while I waited at the bar. He then gave me attitude when saying he had to look for our ticket because he didn't know what we ordered and I had to explain that it didn't matter because we both ordered the $35 pre-fixed menu. It was just very apparent that the service team was inexperienced. I would not eat here again, although the restaurant itself had a fun safari theme. Honestly a let down. Paid $600 for a two night stay and the room was decent but your telling me for that much there's no included breakfast and no included parking?? But when it comes to the food at this place we unfortunately got breakfast both mornings because there really isn't any other options nearby. The food is priced like a 5 star Gorden Ramsey breakfast but the food quality is like McDonalds. I paid $17 for the vanilla bean French toast, didn't have the whip cream and mint like advertised and it was just bland, I could have made the same French toast at home for less money, no butter on it, had to ask for butter and the server took 15 minutes to bring me a packet of butter. No powder sugar or anything on it either, side of syrup and a few berries absolutely not $17 worth. My friends both got the avacado toast which is $16 definitely not worth that. They said it was $5 for one more egg, for that I could have bought a whole carton of eggs, there was no everything seasoning on the avacado. My friend also added on the turkey sausage and it had a hair as the sever set it down on the table, she told him immediately and he took it back, said he wouldn't charge her for it and would get a new order. So he finally brought out the sausage but it's 2 instead of 3 and then never brought the 3rd piece out even though he promised it was on the way. He also said he'd take it off the bill and didn't, another server rung us up but I know it wouldn't have taken him long to go to the register and take it off the bill, so my friend who paid didn't see it till after they charged her card. Yesterday I got the continental breakfast and it's 3 pasties, I asked the waitress what they were and she had no clue she said the chef picks it so if you have allergies or are picky you could end up with anything. I got a raisin muffin, raisin croissant and a berry scone, the scone was hard as a rock and you could tell they were all store bought, it was the only option that comes with a drink which is why I picked it. The servers all look like they would rather be anywhere else on the planet and I get it because I've been a waitress for years, they probably don't get paid well and they have to deal with all the complaints about the prices but still... I just think for $300+ a night they could do better with meals if nothing is included in the price. The guy also told us he'd make sure it was taken care of when I told him about being charged for the sausage and not even getting all of it but I doubt anything will be done ‍ we'll see.
