This place, kids, this place, made me believe that life’s good again. The chicken salt on a doughnut and the Jam doughnut with cream in it, yes people, with cream in it. The dough itself is so wonderfully airy and crispy. If you ask me this is one of Sydney’s best and must visit food destinations. The hardest part about writing this review is thinking back on the deliciousness and wanting some right now and not being able to get there. Perfection personified. Price per person: $20–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

(3.5 stars) A few weeks back I tried the now-viral chicken salt doughnut. You’ll find it at Full Proof in Llankelly Place. This open-air cafe is well positioned to team with a visit to Kings Cross Market. The chicken salt and thyme doughnut ($7) is big enough to share. The concept of a savoury doughnut is solid, but to me, the execution left something to be desired. It was too oily and too salty to eat unadulterated, and the saltiness outstayed its welcome. But as I said, the idea is good, so my brain scrambled for ways to make it work, from a smaller doughnut, adding a dipping condiment like crème fraiche, or just using a better quality chicken salt. At a minimum, sit down to eat it with a drink. Price per person: $1–20

Hi Jackie, Thanks for your feedback on our chicken salt doughnut. Since you tried it a few weeks ago, we have changed the way we season our chicken salt doughnut to ensure it’s not too salty for our customers. We also use thyme and rosemary to really play into those roast chicken flavours, and our chicken salt is 100% vegetarian. We hope you can come back soon to try the updated doughnut, as we don’t make it the way you’ve mentioned in this review anymore. Definitely try some of our other amazing house-made filled doughnuts or our cooked to order hot cinnamon sugar too! Thank you, Indi & Jen
