Extremely disappointing and unprofessional service. We arrived at the restaurant at around 5:45 pm and asked for a table for two. The restaurant was almost empty, with only two tables outside occupied. The waitress initially indicated that this should be fine, but said she needed to check with her manager. After looking at us in our travel clothes, she asked whether we were staying at the hotel. When we explained that we had driven around 30 miles specifically to visit the restaurant, her attitude changed immediately. She then told us that the restaurant was fully booked. When we asked whether she could check, she glanced at the system for only a few seconds before instantly saying no. At the same time, another couple, dressed more formally, were seated without any questions. This made the situation feel particularly uncomfortable and discriminatory. To make matters worse, when we asked whether she could recommend another nice place with a view and good cuisine, we were directed to an unattractive bar nearby, which was clearly not the type of dining experience we were looking for. We left and went to Porthleven, where a beautifully designed seafood restaurant, despite being fully booked, still made the effort to find a small table for us. We had an excellent experience there and spent around £200. If this restaurant is intended only for hotel guests, or if there is a dress code or any other policy affecting who may dine there, this should be clearly stated in advance and reflected on Google. Otherwise, guests should be treated with the same level of respect, regardless of how they are dressed or whether they are staying at the hotel. Above all, the service team would benefit from proper training on how to treat customers professionally and respectfully. An outrageous and deeply disappointing experience. The only thing we were actually able to enjoy was the view. Meal type: Dinner Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry that your visit left you feeling disappointed, as this is never the experience we want for any of our guests. We would like to reassure you that we do not have a dress code, and we do not prioritise hotel residents over non-residents. As stated on our website, we welcome muddy and sandy boots, as we encourage guests to visit us straight from the coastal path. We're very sorry if your experience suggested otherwise. Although the restaurant may have appeared quiet when you arrived at 5:45pm, our dinner service does not begin until 6:00pm, and the tables were reserved from that time onwards. We're particularly sorry that you made a special journey to visit us and were unable to dine with us. As we can be busy, especially in the summer months, we would always recommend booking in advance or giving us a quick call before travelling, so that we can confirm availability and help avoid disappointment. We're also sorry that the alternative recommendation was not to your taste. Our team always trys to help where possible and, as a local business, we are proud to support and recommend fellow businesses within our community. Thank you again for your feedback. We do hope you visit again, so you can experience our food, we are pleased to hear you loved our view. Best wishes, Housel Team.

This was probably the most beautiful place we've been to in Cornwall. Little restaurant near beech had really good food and service. Views of ocean(Atlantic)were stunning. Many things to see ie the first radio signals sent by Marconi to North America from a place just a short walk away. It's a take Yr breath away kind of experience! We have just returned from having one of the best Sunday lunches ever. It was outstanding. The quality of produce was first class, as was the presentation and great service too. I also had the best ever desert I've ever had in a restaurant as well. The chefs certainly know how to cook and present food to a high standard which we thank you for that. It looks like the hotel has undergone some major works recently and thats given the interior of the hotel a real impressive and premium look and feel to it. Get yourselves down there and check the Housel Bay out!! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £50–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
