The siakap served hot and still steaming. It was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The highlight of the meal was definitely the grilled lamb — delicious and worth every penny. The black pepper sauce was excellent. There was also a green sauce (not sure what it was called), but it tasted great as well. The drinks were okay, with a typical street food beverage taste. Hehe. Service: Fast and efficient. There were plenty of staff, and everything was well-organized. Facilities: Spacious parking area and plenty of tables and chairs, so there was no need to wait for a seat. The canopy area was equipped with fans, making it comfortable even during warm weather. Cleanliness: Well maintained and clean overall. I recently stopped by Farris Kitchen to try their Nasi Lemak, but the experience was largely middle-of-the-road. While the meal was edible, several key elements lacked the execution needed to make it a standout spot. The Base: Rice & Sambal The core of the dish—the coconut rice and the sambal—can only be described as average. The rice had a decent enough fragrance, but it didn't possess that rich, "lemak" depth you hope for. Similarly, the sambal was standard; it provided the necessary heat but lacked a complex balance of sweet, spicy, and savory notes. The Proteins: Hits and Misses This is where the meal faltered most. The shrimps were unfortunately overcooked, resulting in a rubbery texture that was difficult to enjoy. Additionally, the fried fish was quite tough and a bit hard, suggesting it may have been sitting out a little too long or was over-fried. Portion & Value In terms of serving size, the portions are average. If you have a large appetite, you might find the plate a bit underwhelming as the kitchen is not particularly generous with their helpings. The Verdict Farris Kitchen serves a functional Nasi Lemak if you are in a pinch, but with rubbery seafood and strictly "okay" sambal, it’s hard to recommend it as a destination for foodies. There is definitely room for improvement in both the kitchen's timing and their portion control. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
