Went on a weekend for lunch with a friend. It was busy. Waited in line about 20 minutes. Staff are friendly. Service is fast. Menu is limited. Ordered the gyoza set and egg fried rice. The gyoza were great. The filling is soft and flavorful. They had a nice, bready wrapping. The fried rice was really good. It was well seasoned. Paid with cash. Will return. Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Vegetarian options: None

I finally got to try some gyoza at Fight Gyoza, a popular restaurant in Sugamo. The interior, which still retains a strong Showa-era atmosphere, is very relaxing, with elderly waitresses serving the food. Their specialty gyoza are uniquely round and plump. The outside is crispy and fragrant, while the inside is chewy and juicy. The filling, which is packed with vegetables, is refreshing yet has a strong umami flavor. The skin is thick and chewy, so the gyoza alone is very satisfying. If you want to fill up on these gyoza, I recommend ordering two servings per person. The fried rice also looked delicious, and I'd definitely like to try it next time. *At this restaurant, you must order one serving per person; additional orders are not accepted.
