I wanted to try this place because most of the options around me are fast food, and I’d been wanting to check it out but it's always closed when I go to work. The food looked absolutely delicious online, and I really liked the look of the website and menu. The pricing is a little high, though, especially since there’s very limited customization. For example, I couldn’t swap sauces like horseradish for garlic aioli, only remove ingredients or add extra meat and cheese. It was also disappointing that removing several ingredients didn’t lower the price at all on certain items. I ordered the tres leches French toast, a sunny side up egg, and the “famous potatoes.” Overall, the food was pretty good, although I imagine it tastes much better fresh in the restaurant. The potatoes had great flavor, but the packaging for the sides could definitely be improved. My side containers arrived pretty beat up, and the egg especially looked like it had just been placed into the corner of the box. Paying nearly $3 for a single egg and extra charges for cheese also felt a bit expensive. My biggest issue, though, was the overall pickup experience. I completely understand that Saturdays are busy, and I had arrived a few minutes early for my online order, so I wasn’t expecting immediate attention. However, while I waited, I just didn’t feel very welcomed. I stayed out of the way and waited patiently, but the atmosphere felt uncomfortable and uninviting. That said, I can see why people enjoy this place. The food has potential, and I’d probably give it another try, especially dining in fresh. I just think the experience would feel more worth the price with a little better packaging, more flexibility in customization, and a more welcoming pickup experience. The flavors here at First Watch are always amazing, it’s difficult to choose which item is my fave! Today I tried BLT Eggs Benedict - superb! The hubs had a power wrap that he also raved about.
