Great food, across from the boat.
Awesome food, right across our port where cruise ship docked. Service was also great!
This was one of those pleasant surprises. While in Norway we decided that it would be foolish to go back aboard our ship for lunch with all of the fresh seafood here. We had no idea where to go but this place looked nice from the outside so the eight of us walked in. The interior was nice as well and all of the tables were filled. (a good sign) There were only about a half dozen or so but luckily a few were finishing up and about to leave. We only had to wait about 10 minutes so we checked out the menu while we waited. They provided an American (English) speaking menu as well which is always a good idea in a port city. Our waitress was very sweet in spite of the obvious language barrier. I split a seafood platter with my wife that was out of this world!!! They only make it for two and our waitress made sure to point out to us at least three times that it was $65 kroner each. Norway and Iceland do NOT accept Euros or US dollars. But no worries because they do accept credit cards which makes things much easier. I believe the current exchange rate is $1 US dollar = $8 Norwegian kroner. The seafood platter was outstanding. To say that the seafood was fresh is an understatement. It all tasted like it was swimming only an hour ago! My brother in law is the, "Adventurous Type" and wanted to try the whale. Yes, whale! Norway is one of the few places where it is legal to serve it. Personally I wouldn't have ordered it but since he did I figured, "What the hell" and tried it. I must say that it was surprisingly delicious! It's cooked like you would cook a steak and actually does taste like a good sirloin. It has just a hint of, "fishyness" in the aftertaste so you know you're not eating a land animal. So if any of my fellow Yelpers are ever in Norway, I'd definitely try this place out!
