Nice federation hotel and food is not too bad. Atmosphere , walls are painted black making it quite dark and has some eclectic art on the walls. Unfortunately entree took 40mins for a garlic bread to come out and it wasn’t that busy , mains were quick and served nicely. Strange response when asking for pepper and salt which was not available due to risk of food allergies. Price per person: $40–60 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2 Dietary restrictions: Yes, caters for anyone with allergies to added pepper and salt

For travellers who enjoy experiencing a destination's authentic local flavour while keeping an eye on their budget, finding the right place to eat can often be a challenge. When my Australian friend first recommended this venue, I assumed it might be one of those tourist-oriented places where visitors end up paying premium prices simply for the privilege of enjoying a beautiful historic building and balcony view. Fortunately, I was completely wrong. In fact, I enjoyed the terrace bar so much that I visited three days in a row during my stay in Perth. The atmosphere perfectly captures the energy of the city. From the balcony, guests can enjoy a fantastic view overlooking the Perth Station precinct while soaking up the lively local vibe. Even better, the daily Happy Hour from 4 pm to 5 pm offers pints for just AUD 10, along with rotating food specials that make it easy to enjoy quality dining without stretching the travel budget. Considering Perth's generally high dining and drinking costs, the value offered here was genuinely impressive. One of the highlights was the Wednesday steak special, paired with a bottle of Shiraz, which turned out to be one of the most memorable meals of my trip. The food quality, menu selection, atmosphere, location, and overall service all exceeded my expectations. Staff members Melanie and Fin were particularly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making both my friend and me feel genuinely looked after throughout our visits. What makes this venue even more special is its connection to Western Australia's rich gold rush history. The building itself is an iconic part of Perth's heritage, and enjoying a meal and drink here felt like experiencing a small piece of Australia's past while overlooking the modern city. Among all the restaurants, bars, and cafes I visited during my Australian journey, this was undoubtedly the place that left the strongest impression on me. It successfully combines history, character, great food, reasonable prices, and outstanding hospitality—something increasingly rare to find. I would gladly return on my next visit to Perth and highly recommend it to travellers seeking an authentic local experience without sacrificing value for money. Price per person: $20–40

The Royal Perth has a fantastic rustic atmosphere with unique decor that gives it real character. It’s the kind of place that feels both cozy and lively, perfect for a relaxed meal or a few drinks. Food The French Dip was phenomenal—hands down the best I’ve ever had. The beef was rich and flavorful, and the freshly made flatbread was the perfect pairing. A flawless 5/5. The Caesar Salad also impressed. My wife, who takes her salads seriously, said it was the best she’s ever had. The dressing was well-balanced, and the crunch was just right. Her only critique? A bit more egg would have made it perfect. Still, an easy 5/5. Drinks The beer selection was good, but for an English-style pub, I expected more variety, including some classic UK options. Most choices leaned Australian, which is fine but left me wanting more. Solid, but 4/5. The peach cocktail was a hit. A perfect balance of sweet and sour with just the right amount of gin to give it a nice kick. A strong 4.5/5. Overall Amazing food, great drinks, and a welcoming vibe.
