Absolutely magical atmosphere and a beautiful community feel! Recommended by a friend, we visited Flying Bear to experience their DELICIOUS gluten free crepes and open mic night. To ensure crepes were still available during Friday open mic nights, my partner Shawn called ahead, and the answer was YES! On a quest for the perfect birthday treat, these crepes not only surpassed our expectations but also led to a heartwarming surprise. Despite it being our first visit, the entire place joined in singing a happy birthday song for Shawn upon us walking in the door! We also got an herbal tea which was very yummy, and Eric kindly filled my tea mug with hot water about 3 times unpromptedjust amazing people & customer service. The genuine warmth and sense of community, plus the encouragement of self-expression and artistic creation, made our experience truly special. If you find yourself in Newaygo, we wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Flying Bear! Great vibes & melt-in-your-mouth crepes

I cannot begin to tell you how amazing our experience was here. It was my birthday and we gave them a call before stopping in to ask if they make crepes at all hours that they are open. Eric kindly stated that they do and I let slip that we were going to stop in for a birthday crepe. Eric and Crystal had everyone in the book store sing me happy birthday as soon as we walked in the door. Mind you this is on open mic night and there were 10-12 people there. It was an unforgettable experience. We ordered a Flying Bear crepe And an herbal tea and had a conversation with Eric and sat down to some beautiful singing. The crepe was astounding, both of us were drooling over it. The perfect amount of crispy, doughy and gooey. I'm a texture guy and this hit all the right spots. The flavor was delightful as well. My fiance said it's her new vice and she's going to have cravings The bookstore looks amazing as well. We didn't spend much time browsing but hope to more in the future. I saw some of my favorites on the shelf and others that were wanting me to pick them up to explore. That's the beauty of a bookstore, they call call us toward a new journey or chapter in our lives. They Flying Bear has done that for me, not yet through it's books but instead through fostering a feeling of belongings and community. Feeling a part of the people sharing themselves on stage and getting a chance to talk to those around me. I had a realization that Eric, Crystal and The Flying Bear are just what the world needs. In a world where community and connection tend to be harder to find. We walked into The Flying Bear to enjoy a crepe and found Newaygo.
