Staff were genuinely friendly and attentive whenever they could attend to us, and we appreciated that the restaurant is pet-friendly as well. One of their USPs is that they peel the crab for you, which is a nice touch and probably convenient for some diners. That said, overall the restaurant felt severely understaffed — especially for a Mother’s Day weekend. It took almost 15 minutes before anyone could take our order, and the pacing of the meal was frustratingly slow. Each dish only arrived after we finished the previous one, so dinner ended up dragging much longer than expected. When we walked past the kitchen, we noticed there was only 1 chef inside, which honestly explained the delays. Food-wise, it was unfortunately quite disappointing for the price point. The prawns were $40 for 6 pieces, but the prawns were mushy and the prawn heads had a slightly smelly taste, which made them feel less fresh than expected. The kai lan, apparently one of their top sellers at $16, was bitter and honestly quite underwhelming. Their signature char siew also did not live up to expectations. The crab soup was another disappointment — it tasted more like ginger soup than crab soup. The salted egg beancurd was probably one of the more confusing dishes. There was barely any salted egg flavour, and the texture didn’t even feel like proper beancurd. It almost felt mixed with something else entirely. Fried crab stick was just normal, nothing memorable. Ironically, our favourite item of the night was the pickled mango appetiser. Overall, not terrible, but definitely not worth the pricing or the hype. Expected much better. hian hai bought 4pax dinner @Food R Us food average except for chicken, very good standard with the ginger sauce. char siew is hugely disappointing, supposedly their signature, neither fragrant/tasty nor great texture, more of fibrous slight powdery, poor texture for char siew. beef, tofu ok. the vegetables quite good. service very good, polite, friendly, attentive 2.2.2026.
