Fook Kin is pretty near Library @ Orchard. Chinese cuisine under the direction of the great chef is wonderful at this place. Enjoy perfectly cooked char siu, cold pork roast and roasted meat at this restaurant when you happen to be near it. If hungry, come here for tasty ginger ice cream, curry dessert and ginger crunch. It might be nice to try delicious beer, bitter or wine. Great ice tea, herbal tea or coffee are among the most often ordered drinks at Fook Kin.
This place provides food delivery for the convenience of its customers. The competent staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place great. Nice service is something clients agree upon here. Kitty and I had been wanting to dine at Fook Kin for some time, having passed by the restaurant numerous times while in the area. Today, whilst in Orchard, we finally seized the opportunity to enjoy lunch there before visiting our friend who are hospitalised at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Initially, we felt the prices appeared slightly high. However, we learned that the restaurant is renowned for its Char Siu roast meats and duck, which justified its reputation for quality. We ordered a selection of dishes, including the Wanton Mee (without spice) and the Roast Paradise Noodle Bowl, which featured good quality thin noodles, a spicy option, and an extra roast duck leg for $ 6.50, which we decided to share, which turned out to be a wise choice. The Char Siu was truly impressive, rich, smoky, and tender, fulfilling the restaurant’s exceptional reputation. The duck was particularly delightful, Juicy and full of flavour, especially the drumstick, which was roasted to perfection. The extra drumstick contributed significantly to the meal’s enjoyment. The roasted pork, however, was marginally saltier than expected but still quite tasty. The ambiance was lively, with colourful neon lights, graffiti murals, and classic Hong Kong cafe elements like metal gates and birdcage lighting creating a distinctive, nostalgic atmosphere. Our experience was further enhanced by attentive staff who even walked to our table to check if we were satisfied with the service and food, a nice touch that made us feel valued. The location near Somerset was also very convenient. We also had the opportunity to register for their membership. Unlike many establishments where discounts or vouchers can only be redeemed on future visits, Fook Kin allows benefits to be used immediately. I believe this approach is sincere and transparent, it shows that the restaurant genuinely values its customers rather than employing mere marketing tactics. The Silver Tier membership, which is free to join, includes a SGD 5 welcome voucher with no minimum spend, allowing us to enjoy instant savings. During our visit, we utilised this $ 5 voucher, which was immediately deducted from our bill, reducing the total by five dollars. This made the overall experience even more satisfying. Additionally, Fook Kin offers a fun promotion where customers can take a photo of their meal, upload it to Instagram, tag @fook.kin, and check in at the restaurant to receive a complimentary drink valued at SGD 2.80, an interactive element that added to the lively dining atmosphere. The receipt for our meal for our order totalled SGD 30.60, with a 10% service charge and 9% GST included. After applying the SGD 5 voucher, the final amount paid was SGD 31.24 via MasterCard. Verifying voucher eligibility before payment is advisable, as it cannot be combined with other promotions. Overall, although the initial prices seemed slightly high, the quality of the dishes and the restaurant’s reputation justified the cost. The food was delicious, the atmosphere vibrant and unique, and the membership and promotional benefits straightforward and genuine. The attentive service, especially staff walking to check on our satisfaction was a particularly nice touch that enhanced the overall experience. Had my worst ever soup here! Omg it was just pure salt and nothing else. What a disappointment. The meats are the best - char siew fatty but abit too fatty, roasted duck ok but very very very over expensive for that few pieces. The chicken rice is not as tasty as the one beside (Jew kit) and the curry mee is too coconutty. The soya bean is use powder like what?! More importantly, service is terrible. There’s this aunty who just stares down at us without being helpful (our duck didn’t come w the noodles!) and the soup we requested to add more hot water coz it was so bad. Then a young lady who doesn’t seem to understand much - eng Chinese also not good Over priced, bad attitude, poor food. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Great local small business with very nice atmosphere and great local food! Plenty of choices and freshly cooked. Close to Somerset metro station. The neon sign is also quite funny. No booking needed, just walk in and enjoy. Service is also attentive. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: SGD 50–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
