Visited during the monthly Ruddington market as was directed here for the toilet. £9 for annual pass. Small museum run by engaging and competent volunteers. Gill was very knowledable of the history of the local area and business. A couple of staged cottages including a back to back. First workhouse had all the (working!) framework knitting machines (using bearded springback needles I've been told) and demonstrated by Colin who explained the process really well. The other side held Victorian circular knitting machines (csm) where David was really engaging with the children who got to try the machines and take back scarves they made on them. Small shop downstairs where you can also buy socks and scarves made on the csm and other items.

A hidden gem! Lived locally for decades but never properly visited until today. My 10 year old loved the hands on aspects on the museum and the chance to see how people really lived in the 1800's and my friend and I learned a lot too. The volunteers were all warm, friendly and generous with their knowledge and time. They adapted their talks depending on the interest shown and the timeframes of each visitor but were wealths of information. The museum's framework knitting machines are fascinating pieces of engineering in their own right too. The courtyard garden and cafe were, literally, the icing on the cake and a lovely suntrap. The ticket price including an annual pass is a great idea too. Thoroughly recommend.

A unique experience and hidden treasure, visiting the Framework Knitters Museum! Lots to learn about (e.g. workforce history, industrial heritage with modern links to knitting too) with helpful and knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Beautiful outdoor spaces to enjoy and a cafe with an excellent choice of refreshments. Would definitely recommend!
