Over the years since moving to the area in 2004, we have celebrated most of our special occasions at Frank's @ the Old Mill. The setting is wonderful and all but once in the past the food has been fantastic.

Unfortunately, our experience on the evening of August 25th was not in keeping with what we have come to expect when dining there. The 16 oz prime rib was very tough. It also looked to be shy of 16 oz. When the server asked how our meal was, I told her that it was tough. She immediately said that any thick cut of meat would be tough. I disagreed and she just walked away. I ate some of the meat and fat around the outer edge, but the inner portion was too tough. She came back later to ask if I needed a to go box. I told her I wouldn't be eating it and I wanted her to remove all or part of the cost of my meal from the bill. Some time later Shawn (Sean?) came to the table. I told him that the meat was tough. He said any meat that was rare or medium rare would be tough. I told him that I was raised on a Black Angus farm and that I knew that was not the case. He literally snatched the plate off of the table, muttering what sounded like expletives as he quickly left. I am 67 and have never been treated so poorly or encountered such an unprofessional manager in my life. He did remove my meal from the bill, but the experience left a bitter taste. The server was very nice, but she needs to understand that meat is not necessarily tough just because it is thick. I have been able to use a fork to cut through properly cooked prime beef that was 2" thick in the past. Also, I have been eating beef rare and medium rare all of my life and if a decent cut of beef is cooked properly, it will be tender.
The reason I left 2 stars instead of one was because the calamari was great.

Ordinarilly I would just not bother to dine there again, but I thought it was important to let you know what happened because we have loved your restaurant over the years. Also, I thought you may need to check to make sure you are buying "prime", not "lean" beef. There was absolutely no marbelling in the meat.
The only reason I left 2 stars instead of one is because the calamari was fantastic.
