A bit of a pain to get to this restaurant unless you’re staying in the Sheraton resort, but the food was absolutely delicious. Both the waiting staff and chef spoke a little bit of English, and they also had a full English menu, so it was easy for me to order and enjoy the night. The chef said Miyazaki beef is number one in Japan and after having Sendai, Hida, Kobe, and Kagoshima beefs, I would wholeheartedly agree that Miyazaki is the best, although I’m sure a lot of credit goes to the chefs at Fukami for how they prepare the meat. The beef itself tasted amazing, but it wasn’t as rich as Kobe/Kagoshima or as beefy as Sendai. It tasted like it was just perfectly balanced in flavor and texture, which made it enjoyable to eat til the end even though I ordered the filet. The other courses were also very tasty and provided great variety, although the dessert was on the simpler side the night I ate (just a sherbet). Staff was very attentive and the meal kept up with my pace of eating which I think was probably above average for a meal like this. If you’re in Miyazaki to eat Miyazaki beef, you can’t go wrong eating it at Fukami. Price per person: ¥10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Fukami (English name of the restaurant) was amazing. We were a little late to our reservation but the chef, and the rest of the staff, did not mind. He greeted us with a smile, led us to our seats, and cooked an amazing steak to our liking. He spoke english and was able to answer any questions we had and provide recommendations. The rest of the staff also spoke english and was very accomodating. Miyazaki steak is said to be the best in Japan, better than Kobe, and Teppan Yaki Fukami did not disappoint. One touch I really liked was the fact that the steak was served on a slice of bread. After we finished our steak the chef made us a mini mushroom and cheese sandwich with the bread that soaked up the steak’s juices. This meal was terrific and the wagyu meat was more tender and tastier than the overpriced Kobe beef I had in Kobe. We ordered the tenderloin and would definitely come back to Miyazaki just for this meal. Thank you again to the chef and the rest of the staff for being so friendly!
